In a recession, people get very scared. They feel like they are trapped with a mound of unpaid bills. Most of the country feels this way in this economy. Unemployment is on the rise. A person needs to relax and look at the big picture. There is a way to reduce debt faster and it is not that difficult.

Reducing debt is not difficult. It just takes discipline and the right mindset. A person needs to review their finances and discover what they can live without. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

If you have premium cable, dump it and go to basic channels. Take the difference and apply it to a bill. This procedure can be done with any type of bill where a family can save money. Try the electric bill, cell phone bill, or even the food bill. Clip coupons and take the savings and pay down a bill.

The question of how to get lower credit card payments does not need to be a mind bender. Think carefully and review all bills. Look at car loans, credit card bills, and other installment loans. Arrange them in order from lowest balance to greatest. Do not worry about interest rates at this time. Once they are arranged in this fashion it is time to use the “debt snowball”.

The debt snowball is an easy concept. Start with the lowest bill. Put all extra money saved with coupons or reducing services and add this to the monthly payment. Continue adding all extra money to that one bill. Make sure to continue to make the status quo payment on all the other bills.

Once the smallest bill is paid in full, move to the next one on the list. The trick to this is to take the money you were paying on the smallest bill and apply that plus the regular payment to the next bill. This process continues until they are all paid in full. This is the quickest and easiest way to become debt free and stress free.
